Dream House: Driveway and Kitchen

Hi guys! Hope you are all having a lovely weekend.  Today we came to visit the house.  It's nice to see that the kitchen granite is finally up.  I thought before that the granite slab we picked was a little too golden.  I'm so happy that it blends well with the cabinet.  It would have been nice to have all the backsplash in granite, but the builder was charging $900 to upgrade it for such a small area.. so we passed on that one.  The only kitchen upgrade we got from them was the built in fridge and a single sink instead of the double one.

They started working on the driveway too.  Everything is coming along pretty quick now.  So happy with all the choices we made.  I just wish we had prewired all the bedroom with flatscreen tv.  But it's okay, everyone can spend time together in the family room to watch tv.

Dream House: Closing date moved

Hi guys!  Hope you are doing well.  Last Monday I received a letter from our builder letting us know that our estimated closing date has been moved to August 27 instead of Sept 19.   I didn't know what to feel... mixed emotions I guess.   We wanted to move the date earlier but not too early that it would cost us $300 a day if our lender won't be able to close on time.  I was a bit  stressed good thing our lender assured us that she will be able to close on that date.  Anyways... last Saturday we came to visit the house.. cabinets and trims are up!

Dream House: Office Color

Happy Friday guys!  The last couple of days I've been busy looking for office paint colors. It is fun but I never realized how difficult it is because there are just a gazzillion different shades of colors.  So many different undertones to consider and to be honest it is quite overwhelming.

Initially  I wanted these colors...

 Benjamin Moore Gentle Cream-OC-96
From their site is is described as...

This exquisite, slightly darker cream is soothing and richly shaded, adding depth and interest to formal living spaces.

Benjamin Moore Lemon Sorbet 2019-60
This color is part of Color Preview. A collection of bold, saturated colors that brings spaces to life for those looking to illuminate their world with pure, extraordinary color. A great complement to Classic Colors, Color Preview offers a collection of 1,232 hues that excite and inspire with pure, deep, clear colors that create striking combinations.

I love these color because they are so light and airy.  I will be having white trim and furnitures and I think it will go well with these color schemes giving it a warm clean feel.  However, I didn't put into consideration where the room is facing.  It actually faces west and gets a lot of sunshine during afternoon.  I read that it is best not to get yellow or bright colors because it will just increase the warmness of the room and could be blinding when it is too bright.  And a lot people suggested to get something neutral on the cooler side of the color spectrum.  That's when I found these colors...

Benjamin Moore Blue Ice-821

This soft purplish-blue spans a surprising seasonal range, conjuring thoughts of ice skating on a frozen lake or a cool dip on a hot summer day.

Benjamin Moore Palladian Blue HC-144
All is calm and relaxed with this soft, airy blue that combines the blue of the sky with a touch a mother of pearl.

Benjamin Moore Nimbus Gray 2131-50
As dense as the cloud for which it's named, this cool mid-tone blue-gray evokes memories of an early winter walk on a deserted wind-swept beach.

So these are my top color picks at the moment...

Dream House: Update... brick color change

Hi everyone.  Happy Monday!  Just a quick update of the house... yesterday we went to meet the Toll Brother's agent.  We thought we were done with all the meetings after the preclosing one we did but an unfortunate thing happened.. they ran out of bricks for the specific facade we chose..  so we have to go back to choose what we would want to replace.  They have a brick they said that they can replace that looks similar to the one we have but when we got there... it didn't really look similar at all.

The one of the left is the original brick of our house but the subcontractor doesn't carry it anymore so the one on the right is the closest match they said.  It looks way different in person... too dark and solid which we think will not go well with our facade...

Our facade is the number 5 in the picture.. yellow paint with a light orange brick... we opt for the brick of the 6 facade instead to replace our phased out one... crossing my fingers that it will match well. Anyways, here is what our house looks like now...

There are so many things I want to upgrade after the house is done... with the master bath if we want to upgrade the tile from the builder, we have to pay extra 13,000 for it which I think is ridiculously expensive... so we decided to upgrade some stuff like floorings and tile works from outside contractor... plus we can choose our own design and materials.  Two more months left and the house will be done... can't wait!
