Beauty: Eyelash Organization

Hi guys!  Hope you are all doing well.   Summer is here!  It has been so hot here in Southern California.  Didn't really want to go out of the house because of the heat.  I've been cooped up in the house and been cleaning and organizing.  One of the things that I have trouble organizing even way back is falsies.  They are just so bulky and can take up so much space especially if you have a small vanity.  Luckily I stumbled upon Koren's video on how he organized his lashes.  It was brilliant!  Here's  what I did with mine and couldn't be happier.

Happy Hump Day from my loves Chloe and Tea =)

Hope this video is helpful to you guys!

Home Sweet Home: Blank Backyard Wall Solution

Hi guys! It has been a very very long time! Hope you are all doing well.  How missed blogging and doing videos!  Hopefully I could get back in the groove of things now that I pretty much have a lot of down time.

I'll start off with this project that I'm very very excited to share...  Our backyard wall!

When we had our backyard done, I wasn't really happy how it turned out.  The whole yard was covered with pavers.  There wasn't any plant and it looked and felt really hard.  Every time I look at the yard it didn't feel relaxing especially looking at the blank wall.  The solution... we decided to cover the wall with star jasmine.   We have 4 star jasmine vines outside but they were baby ones.  They were planted on April of 2014. They were too young to be spread out.  I waited couple of months and  on June, I decided to fan the stems out and tied them on a wire attached to the wall  hoping that they would give softness to the yard.  After a few months, they had grown and I could never be happier!  The wall is not entirely covered yet but I'm loving how it turned out.  And by the way... they smell really really good!

JUNE 2015

It is amazing how plants can change the whole look of a space.

Thanks for letting me share and thanks for dropping by!

Happy 2014!

Hi guys! Happy New Year! Hope you are all doing well.  I know it's been awhile since my last post.  A lot of things has happened but I wasn't able to blog about it because I was super busy with the moving and stuff.. then came the holidays and... work.  Anyways, I'll try to post update of what's going on with my life this 2014.  This blog has been a good reference for me as well when I look back about experiences and also with decision making.

Year 2013.. I would say is the year that I was able to achieve something I thought would only be a dream.  We bought our first house!  Up until this day I still can't believe it at times.  I am so thankful... it is one of the biggest blessing in my life.  It is so fun having your own house.  Although it comes hand in hand with stress but the fun and fulfillment overshadows the stress.  We still don't have any furnitures ... our couch and dining table won't be delivered until February.. but it's okay, we just love it here.

Another big blessing is the birth of XYZ Global Express.  It is a cargo/shipping business that sends balikbayan boxes to the Philippines.  My brother has been planning about it for three years and now here it is... the realization of that dream.   There will be challenges along the way especially for a company that just started with cargo.  But I am very confident that we will make it because we are veterans when it comes to exporting and the team member of XYZ USA and Philippines are exceptional. We are here to serve...  My wish for 2014 is stability and growth.

I have so many things I am thankful for...
  • Good health
  • Chloe and Teacup are healthy, although Chloe suffered from back pain mid 2013 but she healed and in good shape...
  • Thankful for my job... although it is so stressful at times... I won't change it for anything else...
  • Visited France, Italy and Spain with my sisters
  • Saw the cast of Supernatural!
  • Saw Pink "Truth About Love" concert
  • Watched the Lion King and Peter Pan
  • And last but not the least... my family and friends...  without them, I won't be where I am and I won't be who I am today.  I love you guys... with all my heart.

Our very first real christmas tree!  So happy how it turned out!

Looking forward for 2014.  And the adventures it would bring!

Dream House: Outdoor Kitchen and Pool

The first time I entered the model home where we bought our house, I fell in love with their outdoor kitchen.  The big folding door opens up to the outdoor kitchen where it seemed like there is continuity between the inside of the house to the outside making the space bigger to the eye.  I loved it so much.

Here are some of the pictures I took of the model homes...

We met up with the contractor on the 20th of September to get a quote for the outdoor kitchen and pool.  He drew us a sketch and we were happy of how it looked.  We thought it would take awhile for him to build because he has to secure all the permits from the city.  We were planning to hold off cause we want to get another bid but that didn't happen. On the 23rd he called early in the morning telling me he is in the new house..they were already digging!  I was so surprised.    At that point we just decided to have it done.  The dilemma now is that because it was so rushed and we were not prepared we didn't get to ask the permission of our neighbor.  The kitchen frame is almost done and the roof is so massive.  The contractor told us the neighbor approached him asking about the construction cause they never knew about it.  The roof of the kitchen was obstructing there view.  I really felt really sorry that we didn't get to talk to them before doing anything.  We talk to our neighbor yesterday and told them that we would take off the roof.  I don't mind at all cause if we were in their shoe I would feel bad too especially if it will be our house for a long time.  We were lucky our neighbor are nice and understanding.  We did agree on taking down the roof.  It's just a lesson for our part... not to rush and be sure to get permission from the neighbor.  Anyways here is the current state of our backyard.

It is really huge... right now everything is on hold until we find a good design that we like that doesn't involve the roof.

Thanks for droppy by!

Dream House: Wood Floor

Hi guys!  Today I want to share with you our wood floor pick story.  I posted awhile back how we were eyeing the private reserve collection but on the fence because of the price... we actually got it!  Every weekend we would usually go to OC to look for wood floors and would always end up being overwhelmed and tired.  The weekend we were nearing the closing date we were panicking because we wanted to find the floor before we close so we wouldn't waste time with ordering the floor and the installation days it would take.  We decided to look for a store that is close to where I was currently living.  We just searched at yelp and found Hernandez Wholesale Flooring, it was the closest store that has good reviews and have a lot of selection.  The moment we walked inside the store, the private reserve collection greeted us right away.  It was the first floor we saw.  We were surprised because not a lot of store carry that collection.  The price was 2 dollars per sq. ft cheaper too.  The reason why the floor was expensive because it was custom made...  it took us three weeks to get the floor.. they are 7 inches wide and can go up to 12 inches in length.  It was a hard decision considering the amount of money we have to pay.  But the end result... every time I walk on the floor my heart skip a beat.  I guess I'm just happy of how it looks.

The company that installed our floor is Triple C Flooring Corp.  The owner Patrick is my friend Gay's family friend.  He is a very nice guy.  It was pleasant working with him from start to finish.  He gave us a very good price with the labor cost.  He only charges labor, the materials like the glue and wood we are responsible for.  It took them four days to install about 2300 sq foot flooring.  There were 4 people in their team and all of them are nice.  If you guys have any plans of having your floor done, Triple C Flooring Corp does a great job.  I highly recommend them.

Material Cost:
*Private Reserve 7 inch Piedmont Barnside Engineered Wood Floor $22,496.97
*Glue Bastik Vapor Lock 16 Bucket $2100
*Base Shoe $400

Labor Cost:
* $6,200 which includes renting the demo machine for the tile and the dumping of tile and carpet
